About the Chorus

The Male Chorus of the American Swedish Institute of Minneapolis, a member chorus of the American Union of Swedish Singers, was founded in 1936. Our goal is to preserve our Swedish heritage and contribute to the culture of our Minnesota community. The chorus originally sang only in Swedish, but we now sing in English and other languages as well.

The Chorus has performed nationally and internationally, as well as throughout Minnesota. In June of 2000, we hosted the National Convention of the American Union of Swedish Singers, concluding with a sold-our mass concert in Benson Hall at Bethel College. In 2003 we were guest artists in Lindsborg, Kansas for its annual three-day "Midsommardag" Festival. While on our tour we gave concerts in Des Moines, Iowa; Shawnee Mission, Kansas; and Bella Vista, Arkansas. We have toured Sweden a number of times. Most recently in the summer of 2005, the chorus had a successful concert tour in both Sweden and Norway.

The American Swedish Institute Male Chorus of Minneapolis is honored to sing for you and would enjoy your presence at one of our concerts.
